Update: 2023-08-09


Just posting an update of some of the recent progress. I'll do a more proper devlog and update for Demo Day 52


2023-08-09

- connected rooms [[Room A13]] and [[Room A26]]

- created [[Room A26]]'s map tile and added to map with indicators

- exported build with updates up to this point and uploaded to itch

- fixed bug where the [[Photosensitive Panel]] would still charge even if the flashlight was disabled

- made sound effect for gear action on ground

- added sound for metal machines winding up

- [[Room A7]] now triggers audio when gates lift

- main menu refactors

    - fixed bug on menu preventing loading saves

    - added sound effect to play when selecting load game from main menu

- [[Room A22]] 's door is now functional with [[Machinery Key]]

    - door opens and connects to [[Room A25]]

- animated module conveyor belt sprites for end piece and middle piece

- implemented conveyor belt with physics

- created new room, [[Room A28]] to test conveyor belt platforming

- did some writing for NPCs

- added some music events for [[Room A23]]

- Added [[Machinery Key]] to [[Room B1]]

- Added [[Machinery Key]] to item database

- Fixed description sizing issues in inventory screen when examining items. Words now wrap within a sensible width.

- fixed bg alignment on [[Room A7]]

- created platform sprite

- created animated conveyor belt sprites for convey belt end piece

 2023-08-03

- added new sprites

    - powerbox with road sign

    - old decayed directional road sign

    - set of road guards, decayed, 1-5

- fixed bug with jumping and grabbing ledges pre-maturely

- Added new room, A6-5.

    - A3 now drops down to A6-5, the player falls straight down but sees the stuff in the room

    - A6-4 connects to the pipe opening in A6-5 when the player completes the loop

    - Pipe sprite & map tile done

    - added background

    - added fog

    - added wind and fan ambiance

- Map updated

- fixed audio glitch on intro

    - current theory is that .ogg container for audio files is corrupted, might need to convert / reexport / remake sounds as wav files.

- added quick note tutorial for reacharge station in room A15

    - contact trigger -> delay -> load resource

- started learning Smack Studio

    - started rigging a test robot

        - design for character: Proto Fiend

            - a prototype robotic enforcer designed by the cult before constructing the 13 Demons

            - powerful but simple, built tough but lacking in special abilities

 2023-08-01

- fixed HUD elements appearing in front of UI

- added hanging dead guy

 2023-07-28

- create input listener event that listens for an action by name and expects on just pressed, or on released to trigger

- create button prompt prefab that checks for if last input was a keyboard event to switch between prompt types

- add button prompt to quick notes to let player know how to progress when being told a button for an action

 2023-07-27

- fixed some bugs with signal connections on states across multiple entities

- added check for rooms to emit signals and trigger custom events when all the enemies in a room have been defeated

- EG stop playing battle music when the last enemy is dies

- updates to Scrapped Droid

    - added Attack state and AttackHitbox

- moved Nano Repair Module to room A1 along with tutorial note, hopefully this makes it more likely the player will be certain to grab it. If need be, it would be easier to add a barricade to A1 that requires picking up the item before progressing via an EventTrigger

- added tutorial for using map to room A5

- added tutorial note that explains the module screen

    - overlays over the module screen the first time the module & equipment menu is opened

    - fixed bug where notes overlay fails to render in front of menu if menu is opened from selecting "Equip" when picking up a module or power bauble

- added connections to trigger modules for all physical module zones as well as blastcaster module zones, the following are now functional:

    - on hit

    - on kill

    - on sprint

    - on jump

    - on dash

 2023-07-26

- Finished animating new enemy: Scrapped Droid

- imported sprite sheet and began implementing the prefab for the new enemy

- fixed issues with enemies that stay dead after you leave the room instead

- added variant from sprite sheet

- fixed bugs and further fleshed out the ScrappedDroid prefab

- added sequence for the scrapped droid to drop down from the cieling and suprise the player in room A6-3

- recorded voices for the robot

- made some really scary music

- added fadein and out triggers for music controller

- added scary music to sequence with scrapped droid

 2023-07-25

- fixed a bug with weighted holder where it could be repeatedly hit before queue_free

- started designing and modelling new enemy: scrapped droid

 2023-07-24

- added difficulty selection

- created difficulty check node

- new game fanfare, new ui sound effects

- changed main menu to have dramatic new game fade out and sounds, changed the pipeline between scenes when starting new game sequence

- added room A6-3, changed other room to A6-4, updated map

- fixed loopback with A6 extended rooms

- fixed pushable physics and input bugs

- fixed endless sliding bug on pushables

- added death fanfare and game over screen music

- added animation for reloading save on death screen
